Well, on the plus side, I don't complain about lousy fics anymore. On the minus side, Sims 2 is eating my soul. It makes crunchy chewing noises.

So far, I've got Nightlife, Seasons, and Freetime for expansion packs, and no stuff packs. I got Freetime and Nightlife as part of a bundle (managed to get the only copy we were sent on the day they came out); Bon Voyage was available but I didn't think I'd use it; the pack I really want is University, but it's not available in any store within reasonable driving distance. We did have a copy of Open for Business, which I think would be interesting, but someone had stolen the registration code.

I have not been able to get my sims past the pink crush stage. Some of the pre-made sims are already at lover stage, but even with them I haven't figured out how to get to "woo hoo" - seriously, wtf? I had to look up the aging off cheat, because I didn't want to waste days trying to figure out how to play, but I eventually turned it back on once I mastered basic game play as I had designed the family with the idea of raising the teenage girl to then move out (and then I'd ditch the parents because they bug me). They're named after the people in Valhalla Knights, the obligatory Hero In the Past and Princess In the Past Who Are Your Parents, and the default name for your main character. I'm thinking of adding the NPCs who join your party, or at least some of them - meaning, of course, the ones I can remember. I don't keep good track of the ones you only get for the second third of the game, since I never used any of them (nor do I plan to; they're only good for stealing their equipment - one of them has several pieces of nifty knight-only armor, a really good sword, and the biggest shield I've been able to get in the game).

On the other hand, it might be time to start in a new neighborhood. I had fun messing with the pre-made families - I kicked the delinquent kid out of the Life of Crime career and made him get a different job, married Don Lothario to Cassandra Goth - and then I went to the house where there's a different guy with a crush on Cassandra; Don is a total player so the schmuck might have a chance, but he also finds Brandi Broke attractive. I played the Caliente sisters a bit, but decided not to have Dina marry Mortimer. Oh, and then I decided to visit the Pleasant family - bwahahaha! I had the guy, Daniel, invite the maid to move in. The wife, Mary Sue (huh?) got pissed off and I was having trouble dealing with all of the sims in the house, so I had her move out with one of the kids. This is when I discovered that moving people out of the house does not subtract from the existing family's money; the ones who move out get 20,000 simoleans. By the way, after a move out, other sims will telephone for the sims that are gone. It was hugely annoying. I despise the telephone.

So, basically, I'm a home wrecker. Haha. It was strangely fun. And I didn't even kill anyone (although I had half a mind to kill off the Princess from the Past, because you get to see her ghost in the game).

I also spent some time fiddling with houses. I'm happy to discover that you can lock doors. But roofs are not added automatically. Also, winter drives me insane because they keep changing their clothes to winter wear every time they leave the house well into spring. I gave up and put them on alternating spring and summer until I could get the rest of the game down.

Update: Apparently, woo hoo is an interaction you need to perform while both sims are relaxing on the same bed. Thankfully, you can invite visitors to join you. I think vegetables only grow in summer. And I officially lose at throwing parties.
