Betadine totally, completely, and utterly rules. My bunny's incision is not infected, yay! (He was neutered last Wednesday.)

Yay! How's he doing?

Apart from shedding enough to make him look like he has mange and the fact that Princess is still on the fence about whether he needs to be executed for the dire crime of Trespassing And Hogging Her Human's Attention, he's doing well. It took a few days, but he seems to have healed up nicely, and he's eating regularly now.

Yikes on the shedding?

Is that Billy Bob Umaro we're talking about? Even if it's not, I'm glad he's recovering so well.

Poor Princess. )=

=D Yep, this is Umaro! (I still call him Billy when I'm yelling at him to stop trying to chew through the metal bars of his exercise pen.) He's really turning into another Bonkers. He was rattling the pen so much while I was trying to cook lunch that my mother suggested that I bring him downstairs to play. I told her flatly, "This is YOUR idea," took him down with a litter box, and spent the next five minutes chasing him out of my parents' bedroom, my brother's bedroom, the kitchen, my sister's old bedroom (she's moved out, but I keep all of my non-rabbit proof items in there) which is upstairs and holy crap he goes up the stairs two and three at a time, and then finally rewarded him with a treat when he went back into his pen of his own volition. Then I had to give everyone else a treat to make sure they didn't get jealous. And then I went and rescued my lunch. I did not once say, "I told you so."

:) Princess sooooo doesn't know what to make of him. One minute she's her usual aloof self. The next, she realizes that he's getting petted because he made a fuss and she's all, "Nooooo! ME! Me! You have to pay attention to MEEEEEEE!" It's a good thing humans have two hands.

o.o Wow.

...But were you thinking it really loudly? I probably would have been.

Poor, POOR Princess. =)

How do the other rabbits react to him?

Well, Husky was adopted and Baxter moved out to another foster home, so the only other rabbits I have are Hazel and Nutmeg, the mini rex pair who think that everyone else is Satan (this goes for all humans and all rabbits equally). I have tried to limit his interaction with them in the hopes of having fewer bleeding wounds to treat - rabbit blood may clot quickly and most small bite wounds may heal easily, but I think a few weeks where no one is recovering from a wound of any kind would be quite restful. (This mostly means me, because I got between Princess and Umaro when I pushed things a little too far and she tried to bite his face off, and then I shut my thumb in the car door, and then Umaro's neuter incision started looking bad, but Betadine works miracles, and then again I went to the dentist and owwwww.)

Well, yeah, but my mother spent the whole time laughing at us, so I guess she won that round anyway?

What happened to the lionhead?

Fewer wounds are always good. A complete lack of wounds would be even better. And ick - dentists.

And... point.

Oh, sorry! I kept on forgetting to tell you. She is settling in nicely with the bunny lady. She hasn't been put up for adoption yet, partly because of her age, partly because she needs a lot of socializing, but from what I hear, she's come a long way. Mostly I'm good for letting rabbits know that humans aren't going to harass them day in and day out, because I'm simply not home enough bother them, but that also means I totally suck at properly socializing them. So once we got out of overload and she started calming down, staying with the bunny lady is a much better option for her.

Oh, cool! I'm glad she's doing better and settling in with the bunny lady. I've been kind of worried about her since you started posting about her.

Does she have a name? I think maybe you told me and I forgot.

Bunny lady named her Leontyne - I think it's the name of an actress? Her original name was Leo, but she's actually a girl.

She was still pretty skittish the last time I saw her, but I'm told she's doing much better. Baxter, too - he's binkying now, and he never did that with me. One of the problems is, as a lionhead, she'll be hugely in demand for terribly inappropriate homes. Lionheads are currently the rage among people who think that buying a bunny is a great idea. They usually don't bother doing any research, thinking it's simple to take care of a rabbit. And then they'll dump her when they get tired of her.

Leontyne Price? She's an opera singer. Well, ex-opera singer - she's retired now.

Binkying?

Oh, ouch. So you're going to have to be really careful about placing her, then. Poor Leontyne.
