Alternate Overlords Annoy the Heck Out Of Me
So I figured I'd go see how far my happy über-powerful level 31 Laharl could get in the game. We're in the middle of Blair Forest (I just robbed the rune knight blind) and I figure even my lagging melee fighters aren't doing that badly.

Then we face 10 level 75 Alternate Overlords. They get to roughly 500-600 damage per hit. Laharl only has about 500 HP to begin with.

Yes, you are supposed to lose that battle. I know that. In fact, I really like how the backstabbing vassals decide to kick in and save the day. It just supremely bugs me that I couldn't land more than 30 damage on any of them.

Also, I went back to try and boost Laharl's level some more (figuring that if I could get a couple units around level 75, we might be able to at least hold our own in the subsequent battle of the titans) and I wasn't able to actually inflict any damage due to high magic resistance.

New game plan: Item world diving with Laharl. He should be able to handle some of the tougher items; he even has enough SP to use magic to get out of trouble (although I should make it a point to take lots of SP restoring items just in case). My rogue, Mab, is also a decent level and should be able to steal equipment along the way.
